<p>Beat the Market is a portfolio emulator designed for investors seeking to test their skills against the S&P 500 and other users in managing a virtual portfolio. Utilizing real-time market data from numerous exchanges, this platform enables users to create and manage a diverse selection of assets including stocks, bonds, ETFs, and mutual funds.</p>

<ul>
    <li>Users begin with a virtual cash balance of $100,000.</li>
    <li>Portfolio creation allows the selection of various financial instruments.</li>
    <li>A variety of order types are supported: market orders, market-on-open orders, limit buy orders, and stop buy orders.</li>
    <li>The platform provides real-time valuation of portfolio assets.</li>
    <li>For assets that do not trade during the day, a proxy asset feature approximates intra-day gain/loss.</li>
    <li>Dividends and stock splits are automatically credited to the portfolio.</li>
    <li>Daily portfolio value is plotted against the performance of the S&P 500.</li>
    <li>Key performance metrics such as portfolio beta and alpha are calculated for in-depth analysis.</li>
    <li>Returns and alpha are compared to both the S&P 500 and other users' portfolios, enhancing competitive engagement (iOS 8 required).</li>

<p>Establishing your initial portfolio with $100,000 is offered at no cost. The app further facilitates selling any asset to adjust your cash position or acquire new investments. However, each sale necessitates a commission 'Token', of which users receive five complimentary tokens upon registration. Additional tokens are available for purchase through In-App Purchases and can be shared across nearby iOS devices. Notably, selling assets is optional for tracking the value of your portfolio over time.</p>
